Have you been kissed today?

Not that you need a reason to, but today, July 6th, 2012 is National Kissing Day in many parts of the world, including the U.S, Canada and the United Kingdom.

So have you been kissed today?

Not that you need a reason to, but kissing (and hugging) is a great way to lower stress because it decreases the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and increases the production of oxytocin which is also referred to as the feel good hormone. And when you decrease the production of cortisol in the body, you get to enjoy a wide range of health benefits including, but not limited to, lower blood pressure, better digestion, a better immune system, a more youthful appearance and a better disposition overall. And who doesn’t want that? Who can’t do with a health boost like that? With all the stress and negativity around us, we can use all the boosts we can get. Not that we need a reason to kiss those we love.

But right now, may I suggest you stop reading and go take advantage of the last few hours of today and …improve your health!

Have a great evening!

  1. You’ve brought up some very important points about how kissing can lower stress levels. Just imagine this: Kissing can help you lose weight! Because chronic stress causes weight gain! So find someone to kiss, and get a double benefit of calm and weight management.

  2. Kisses are so great! I love your post! No, I don’t Need an excuse to kiss, but I love that kissing provides such beautiful and healthy side-benefits. hehe

Glad to connect via UBC and looking forward to more from you!
